Prep City Sports was founded by coaches, directors, and parents who were frustrated with software that didn't understand travel ball.
Our story
In 2019, Marcus Thompson was running a 12-team travel baseball organization in Texas. Registration was done through Google Forms. Payments were tracked in spreadsheets. Waivers lived in filing cabinets. Communication meant hoping parents checked their email.
He tried every software on the market — TeamSnap, LeagueApps, SportsEngine, Blue Star Sports. None of them got it. They were built for rec leagues, retrofitted for travel ball, and priced like enterprise software.
The breaking point came when a player left mid-season and the accounting became a nightmare. The balance showed money owed when the family had actually overpaid. It took three hours to untangle.
That night, Marcus called his friend Jennifer — a software engineer at Stripe who also happened to be a softball mom dealing with the same frustrations. They decided to build what they wished existed.
Two years later, Prep City Sports manages over 50,000 players across 500+ organizations. We process millions in payments monthly. And our balances always add up.
